The PlayStation 3 Gallery - The Playstation 3 System

Play Playstation 3 system

The ps3 station system has 256 Megabytes of Rambus XDR memory and 256 Megabytes of GDDR3 memory devoted to graphics. Nvidia Corporation claims that the Reality Synthesizer (RSX) can take full benefit of the combined 512 Megabytes of memory, as it is in writing directly to system's memory. Moreover, the increased graphics and memory bandwidth as well as storage space will allow game developers to enable antialiazing and use high-resolution textures to provide jaggy-free, detailed graphics. Reality Synthesizer (RSX) is programmable shade having capabilities to significantly increase graphics effectiveness. It allows game developers to use highly developed effects such as simulating human skin and subsurface scattering.

The new Sony Playstation 3 controller heavily resembles the conventional Dual Shock game pad design. The R2and L2 shoulder buttons placed on the edge of the game controller has been increased, with enlarged depth in stroke for additional subtle game control. Sony also has enlarged the angle of tilt for the analog joysticks to allow wider range of motion and delicate manipulation. While the analog sticks of the Dual Shock 2 controller for the Sony Playstation 2 has eight bit sensitivity, the new controller for the Play Playstation 3 system will have ten bit motion detection.

The new game controller has four topside trigger buttons, the traditional four-button complement on the right side, and two analog sticks. On the other hand, the new Sony Playstation 3 controller will have six axes that can sense the motion. The game controller is able to sense motion in six degrees which are forward, backward, left, right, up and down. The six-axis control will allow gamers to use body motion for extra assist in controlling a game. For example, by tilting the game controller upward in the air plane game War hawk, this will affect the nose of the aircraft in the air and by moving the sides of the game controller down and up will cause the plane to tilt in a same behavior. The game controller will weigh no more than the old wired Dual Shock controller, even though with the added six axis features, but that maybe due to the reduction of force feedback support.

Quite similar to the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller, the new Sony Playstation 3 controller is wireless, but it will get its independence from Bluetooth compared to the conventional 2.4 Gigahertz RF. Devices working with Bluetooth usually have a range of nine meters, but Sony Computer Entertainment has stated that the Sony Playstation 3 controller will have a twenty meter wireless range. The wireless controller has a lifespan battery of thirty hours, an outline that appears to be in the same line with other Bluetooth devices but short of the 300 hours 2.4Giga Hertz models available for present consoles. You can recharge the game controller by linking it to the Playstation 3 using a USB cable. The game controller will be efficient while tethered to the game system and will be hot plug capable, which means that you can unplug and plug these controllers while the game system is on.

Nevertheless, you cannot replace the controller battery because if the rechargeable battery dies, you will have to send the dead batteries back to Sony Computer Entertainment for a replacement or purchase a new controller. It will take few years before the battery dies. Let's just hope that at that time, we will all move to the new Sony Playstation 4. Six axis wireless Playstation 3 controllers will cost around USD 50.
